By train

Metro North Train Service

Train service is available on Metro North (Hudson line) from Grand Central Station. Local cab/taxi service from Knapp-McCarthy Taxi Service (914) 332 8294 is available to Tarrytown House (about 5 minute ride). You can also call: Waterfront Taxi (914) 693 9393.

By car

From JFK & LGA airports

• Upon exiting the airports take the Van Wyck Expressway to the Whitestone Bridge.
• Proceed onto the New England Thruway (I-95) North.
• Take exit 21 onto route 287 west.
• Take 287 West to exit 9 (exit will say “Tarrytown, last exit before the bridge").
• At the end of the exit, turn left onto route 119 west.
• Go to the first traffic light and turn left onto route 9 south.
• Go to the third traffic light (approx. 1 mile) and turn left onto East Sunnyside Lane.
• Tarrytown House is the Second Entrance on the left.

From Westchester County airport

• Take the Westchester County Airport Road to the traffic light
• Make a left onto I-684 South.
• Take I-684 South to Route 287 West.
• Take 287 West to exit 9. (exit will say “Tarrytown, last exit before the bridge").
• At the end of the exit, turn left onto route 119 west.
• Go to the first traffic light and turn left onto route 9 south.
• Go to the third traffic light (approx. 1 mile) and turn left onto East Sunnyside Lane.
• Tarrytown House is the Second Entrance on the left.

From Newark airport

• Take NJ Turnpike I-95 North I-280/ EXITS 15W-18W/ RT-3/ GEO WASHINGTON BR/ SPORTS COMPLEX.
• Go over the George Washington Bridge.
• Take 87 North (The Major Deegan) 87 North towards Albany
• 87N will turn into NY State Thruway I-287 West
• Take the Thruway to exit 9. (exit will say “Tarrytown, last exit before the bridge").
• At the end of the exit, turn left onto route 119 west.
• Go to the first traffic light and turn left onto route 9 south.
• Go to the third traffic light (approx. 1 mile) and turn left onto East Sunnyside Lane.
• Tarrytown House is the Second Entrance on the left.

From New York City (EAST Side)

• Take the East River Drive North, across the Willis Avenue bridge onto the Major Deegan Expressway North.
• The Major Deegan will turn into the NY State Thruway.
• Take the NY State Thruway North to Exit 9. As you get close to the Tappan Zee bridge, take Exit 9 Tarrytown. Exit 9 is the last exit before the bridge. Please note, the exit numbers are ordered strangely (Exit 9 is after Exit 1).
• Turn left at end of exit ramp onto Route 119 West. Go the first traffic light (Route 9) and turn left (you will now be on Rt. 9 South).
• Proceed to third traffic light (if second light is flashing yellow, still count as traffic light); turn left onto East Sunnyside Lane (about 1 mile).
• Entrance to Tarrytown House is clearly marked on your left (2nd entrance on left).

If you are coming from Manhattan, do not get off at Exit 9 in the Bronx. Continue North until the last exit before the Tappan Zee Bridge.

From New York City (WEST Side)

• Take the West Side Highway north. This will turn into the Saw Mill River Pkwy.
• Take the Saw Mill north to the NY State Thruway.
• Take the NY State Thruway North to Exit 9. As you get close to the Tappan Zee bridge, take Exit 9 Tarrytown. Exit 9 is the last exit before the bridge. Please note, the exit numbers are ordered strangely (Exit 9 is after Exit 1).
• Turn left at end of exit ramp onto Route 119 West. Go the first traffic light (Route 9) and turn left. (You will now be on Rt. 9 South).
• Proceed to third traffic light (if second light is flashing yellow, still count as traffic light); turn left onto East Sunnyside Lane (about 1 mile).
• Entrance to Tarrytown House is clearly marked on your left (2nd entrance on left).

From New Jersey

• Drive North or South on the Palisades or Garden State Parkways, to the NY State Thruway (I-87) South/East.
• Follow signs and cross the Tappan Zee Bridge.
• After toll booth, immediately exit at Exit 9 Tarrytown. (First exit on right after toll)
• At the end of the exit ramp, make a left off the exit onto Route 9 South.
• Proceed to second traffic light (first light counts as traffic light even if flashing yellow); about ½ mile and turn left onto East Sunnyside Lane.
• Entrance to Tarrytown House is clearly marked on your left (2nd entrance on left).

From Connecticut

• Drive South on I-95, I-684 or the Merritt Pkwy. To I-287 West.
• Take 287 West all the way to Exit 1. Get off at Exit 1 and make a right turn onto Rte. 119 West.
• Go to intersection of 119 and Rte. 9, turn left onto Rte. 9 South.
• Go to third traffic light (if second light is flashing yellow, still count as traffic light); (approx. 1 mile) and make a left turn onto East Sunnyside Lane.
• Tarrytown House is the second entrance on the left.

From Long Island

• Take the Throgs Neck or the Whitestone Bridge onto the New England Thruway (I-95) North.
• Take Exit 21 onto I-287 West.
• Take Exit 1 off 287 West and make a right turn on Rte. 119 West.
• Go to the intersection of Rte. 119 and Rte. 9, and turn left onto Rte. 9 South.
• At the third traffic light (if second light is flashing yellow, still count as traffic light) turn left onto East Sunnyside Lane. Tarrytown House is the second entrance on the left.

From Putnam & Dutchess Counties

• Take the Taconic State Pkwy. South to the Saw Mill River Pkwy. South.
• Get off Exit 22 (I287) West.
• Take first exit, which is Exit 1. Make a right turn onto Rte 119 West.
• Go to the intersection of 119 and Rte. 9, and make a left turn onto Rte 9 South.
• Go to the third traffic light (if second light is flashing yellow, still count as traffic light); (approx. 1 mile) and make a left turn onto East Sunnyside Lane.
• Tarrytown House is the second entrance on the left.

From Albany/Upstate NY

• Take I-87 South (NYS Thruway) to Tappan Zee Bridge (Cross Bridge)
• After toll booth, immediately exit at Exit 9 Tarrytown. (First exit on right after toll)
• At the end of the exit ramp, make a left off the exit onto Route 9 South.
• Proceed to second traffic light (first light counts as traffic light even if flashing yellow); about ½ mile and turn left onto East Sunnyside Lane.
